...a bit of needed relaxation...

Below are photos from Rockport Beach. The beach was man-made and is pretty much a bay. The main beach was about ten minutes and a ferry ride away from Port Aransas which isn't too far from Corpus Christi. We will definitely be going to Port Aransas on our next visit. The sand at Port A is bright white and the waves are much bigger... Regardless, I was so happy to get back to the coast. Living on the coast all your life makes you miss it ALOT when you get stuck in the middle of Texas! It is so very relaxing and peaceful to me, just sitting in the sand looking out into the Gulf (of Mexico) or at the end of the pier during sunset. I can't wait to get back out there!!

Road to peace...

by the way, that is not trash on the side of the road, it is cotton...

no, it does not grow on the side of the road, it flew out of the cotton trucks...

yes, I would imagine that there are cotton fields somewhere around there...

Not like the bright white sand back home (Mississippi) but I'll take it!!

Double Take. Sorry, had to do it to you...

...

Morgan building his sand castle..

A childs instinct.. He bopped me on the head when he saw that I took this picture. This is the only one out of the whole bunch of over 100 that he doesn't like. ha ha

I'm so glad Penny snapped this picture. I saw that lady while Morgan and I were out paddling around. Talk about modified sailing!!

That little thing would cruise through the water, check out my wake. heh

Yep, that little speck is me and Morgan in the kayak.

Hopefully this will be my retirement one day.

I was trying to give this the effect of me shooting from behind a window.. It kinda worked.. I think.

Last but certainly not least, this is my favorite of the bunch.

oh yeah

I forgot to mention that in the last picture you can see me..well, my outline, sitting behind the camera as it takes the picture...here's one more too. All of these have been resized for blogger so if you want one for your desktop let me know and i'll send you the original file which is 2272x1704. That should cover most every desktop out there...

...creativity...

I got a bit creative today. I love going to the different websites that offer really cool looking desktop wallpapers. http://www.digitalblasphemy.com is one of my faves. I have always wanted to learn how to make pictures like they do but never had the patience to learn the software, the money to buy the software, or the want for it bad enough to grab a copy of some software off the net. The pictures below are my "poor mans" way of making the cool desktop wallpapers. I listen to music daily and use winamp to listen to my mp3s. In winamp they have a really cool visualization section. As I was listening and watching, it hit me to grab the camera and tripod. Most of the shots below are a one and a half second exposure, some are one second exposures, and a couple may be two second exposures. The thing is, none of the photos in this series have been photoshopped, they are all straight from the camera. I was pleased with the finished results.

Below are a couple of shots taken at Mt. Bonnell and a couple of things I saw while driving there, like the deer, flowers, and the giganormanticous aloe plant. heh

More Mt. Bonnell views.

Mt. Bonnell Highest point in Austin so I've heard.

It doesn't look like it but I kid you not, this thing was about 10 feet tall and as big as a car. ~~Revised, 08-22-05~~ ...and they say television rots the mind. I'm watching a show on The Travel Channel right now called Stranded with Cash Peters and they dropped him off in the middle of a field of these things in Guadalajara, Mexico. I'm pretty sure it is the same thing. The ones in the field were scrawnier (is that a word?) but I guess that could be expected. Anyway, they called them Blue Agaves and they are used to make Tequilla. They chop all the 'branches' off, boil the center of it then do what they do to ferment it and make Tequilla.

..and after more research I have found a more fitting description here..

To my Bambi lover, here's his mommy. {=0)

No idea what they are but they are gorgeous.

The following

Taken at Old Settlers Park. I don't like posting pictures of Morgan but I really like these shots for some reason and want everyone to see them. As if alot of people see this site anyway. *laughing*

no words needed.

All alone.

All of the night shots below were taken on 08-02-05. The ones below those at Emma Long were taken on 07-27-05.

906 and a half? Harry Potter anyone?

Looks like she's throwing a punch but she is really lighting a cannon. I liked the shot without the cannon in it. Makes you wonder what the heck is going on.

Look Mom, I'm playing in the middle of the street. {=0)

Much better Stevie Ray Vaughn shot. Different session.

Not quite what I had hoped for but it works...

...

I just like it.

Ok, if you haven't heard, Austin is the live music capital of the world. Everynight there is live music downtown at numerous places, simultaneously. There are also alot of crackheads. I don't remember the name of this place but it had very loud music playing. If you look closely you can see a guy in between the two cars. He's so blurry because he was dancing like no one was watching. It brought a huge smile to my face. I wish I were so care free. The light streaks are a taxi cab driving through the shot.

The sprinkler spray that you can barely see gave this a cool effect...I think.
