Depending on how old a lion is, it's not at all unusual for them to have spots. As infants they've got them but these gradually fade into the coat as the lion passes into adulthood.
If your lion was a juvenile, it wouldn't be at all unusual for it to have a few dots and dashes hanging about from childhood.
